011511 Just got back from Mexico!

Sorry we have been so quiet, Terri and I just got back from a fabulous destination wedding in Cancun Mexico!

This trip was amazing! And so were the sights! It was wonderful to leave the frosty snow covered hills of Cincinnati for the sparkling blue-green waters of the Yucatan peninsula for a week!!

This trip also marks the first vacation with our daughter Vivian. Even 6 months pregnant my wonderful wife Terri was a key part of the wedding coverage for our amazing friends Brett and Sam.

The sunrises were magnificent until the day after the wedding where it was cloudy and rainy. But the first 4 days were amazing!

This is the type of resort we stayed in.

Here's Terri and I on the artificial reef we weren't supposed to be on at sunrise. :)

Some of the entertainment at the resort was pretty cool, like this fire show.

This is our groom Brett. On the third day most of the guests went to the Tulum Mayan Ruins. A 4 thousand year old astronomical calendar site.

The waters here were the bluest and most clear of any place we had seen!

Terri could not pass up the opportunity to get in the water with the beautiful bride-to-be Samantha!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH BRETT, SAM, & FAMILIES!

More to come soon about the wedding!

010111 Happy New Year Tour (with Steph!)

This year Terri and I went to an awesome New Year celebration at the home of our magic friend Steph. She had been telling me about the architecture of it for a while and I was stoked to party and picture.

(Most of the portraits were taken with the 50mm 1.4.)

Some sweet wide angle halls with the 10-22!

This party had it all, spaghetti...

A man named Stoog eating the spaghetti,

And most importantly Steph!

The amazing deer-hugger Kasey also paused to pose for my new years portraiting.

Rock and roll sensation Teddy was there too, he told my my compulsion to take photos had inspired him to start snapping a few now and again. Quite a nice compliment I think. Remember your past my friend!

(I think this was conga line time.)

We skipped out a bit early, but we still had a great time! Thanks Steph!

HAPPY 2011 EVERYONE!

010311 Some Fun Stuff & Art

So finally after completing literally all of my photographic obligations over the holiday I get to put up some neat stuff I have taken along the way!

This is one of my favorite photos of my beautiful wife from one of our weddings in Lexington KY, this summer. It was once of those "stand there and let me see if I can use the location" moments. I love my wife. Sometimes I just can't get enough of her. :)

Because it's there. I love taking these. Every time a good sunset or sunrise throws myriads of beautiful colors across the horizon my mind races trying to figure up an excuse to photograph someone in front of the scene!

In a triumph over nature, this year I waited until the gutter had frozen to clean it out. The result was that I could slide out 3 foot long candy-bar style chunks of mostly frozen "gutter cloggins" at a time. WIN!

Older senior session where we were playing with forced perspective.

And the snow... that was fun wasn't it? This was going to be another embarrassing snow photo where you can see the big ol' snowflake spheres flying around me in a bathing suite and beach towel, but it was just too cold!

(This an the below are actually the same flower.)

Don't forget your macro lens!

I really enjoy my 50mm 1.4.

010211 M-oreders! Seniors!

More orders out this week!

This is my friend Justin. He and his parents are wonderful to spend time with!

(We were playing around with some of the shapes at a local collage during Justin's shoot.)

This photo was taken with a 70s nikkor 50mm 1.4 with manual focus! It was on the Canon 30D body. I can conclusively say that in the focal depth of an inch or two, auto-focus is really a time saver.

And this is the beautiful Kat who had an October senior portrait shoot!
Thanks again Kat, Justin, and family!!

122910 Thank you Zisers!

Just wanted to take a quick second to thank the Zisers for hosting a great get-together!

It was also great seeing the Tepes face to face instead of across Ault Park! :) In fact, check out Damien's Awesome new webiste www.Tepephoto.com. Really sweet bokeh there!

International photographer Steven Easley even found time in his schedule to swing by with his son Tre. He was so cute!

And last only because they are on the right side of the picture, the amazingly awesome Bridewells rounded out the group and set up the evening for jokes and business strategy!

One person notably missing was supreme photo assistant and humanitarian, Michael Nealis. We missed you! :(

And I can't mention Marc and Michael without putting up the links to the Turducken of 2008, 2009!

2011 is the year!

121810 Snowy Highway Landscapes

This is why I like it when my wonderful wife Terri drives!

These are all the boredom photos from our trip to Columbus with the 50 mm 1.4.

I like this one a lot.

122210 Mike D's Creeper Party

When legendary Cincinnati painter Mike D has a "Creeper Party" with "Drunken Santa" How can you say no?

And creepy it was. Mike himself was gathering members for a comet ride to heaven.

Real Creepy.
